Mount Holyoke College kicks off $200M campaign
Mount Holyoke College has launched a five-year, $200 million capital campaign, the largest fundraising program for a U.S. women's college, university officials say.
If successful, the "Advancing Our Legacy of Leadership" will add $110 million to the 161-year-old private liberal arts college's endowment. Mount Holyoke's endowment is valued at $295 million.
Other goals:
- $40 million for annual funds;
- $24 million for renovations and new science facilities construction;
- $20 million for programs
- $6 million for arts facilities.
Campaign co-chairs are Eleanor Graham Claus of Barnstable, Mass., and Harriet Weissman of White Plains, N.Y. Both women are Mount Holyoke alumnae and trustees.
This is the second national record-setting fundraiser conducted by the Massachusetts college. Mount Holyoke successfully raised $100 million as part of a six-year campaign that concluded in 1992.
