Two universities get big gifts

Two universities - Duke University and the University of Arizona - each have received $20 million gifts.

Duke University's Fuqua School of Business received its $20 million gift from the school's namesake, businessman J.B. Fuqua, the News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C., reports. The gift brings to more than $37 million the amount of money Fuqua has given to Duke. School officials say the money will be used to endow professorships and to expand its international programs.

The College of Law at the University of Arizona received a $20 million gift from James E. Rogers, a lawyer and broadcasting executive who attended both the university and the law school, the New York Times reports. The unrestricted gift is the largest ever made to the university and will be paid over 13 years.
