A retired West Virginia University custodian who never made more than $10,000 a year has donated $93,000 to the university's law school because the people there treated her "extremely well through the years," the Associated Press reports.
Regina Jennings, 75, cleaned the law school's buildings for 15 years before retiring in 1989. Jennings was able to invest much of her earnings because she also received income from rental property, the AP reports.
She decided to make the donation in recognition of the friends she made - and kept - while there, AP reports. The money will pay to revamp a long-distance learning facility at the law school that will be named for Jennings.
While she's glad to make the gift, Jennings says she would prefer not to be put in the spotlight.
"The name might be all right, but I don't want my picture on the wall. Have you ever seen the people on those walls? No, thanks," Jennings says.
