Sharing the Care enrolls one millionth patient

Sharing the Care (STC) -- a partnership between the National Governors' Association (NGA), the National Association of Community Health Centers and drug maker Pfizer Inc. -- has enrolled one million patients in its pharmaceutical access program.

The program, one of the largest in the country, has given out over $170 million of Pfizer medicines to eligible low-income patients. Since its founding in 1993, STC has grown to cover more than 350 community, migrant and homeless health centers in 47 states.

Participating health care centers give medications made by Pfizer free of charge to qualified patients. To date, over 3 million prescriptions have been filled.

Community health centers that want to know more about the program can call the STC Information Line at (800)984-1500.
