Achievements:
- As of 10.01.00 (Special Project) Budgetary advisor to Haufman & Lerner Association, Rome, Italy., observing their business affairs for the Off Broadway open end contract "Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill" New York, NY.
- Buried the Capital debt within 16 months, as working Project manager in restoration and renovations of twelve buildings. Annual audited statement/ 2000. Operations for facility reduced debt from Sixty-two Thousand to Four Thousand dollars.
- Consulted with community organizations on various topics from networking of projects, to grant writing, to production ideas.
- Established an Endowment Fund with our local community foundation.
- Festival event planner Merrick Festival, a two-day, multi-disciplinary theater, music and art celebration in Coral Gables, Florida.

- Successfully presented world class theater and arts festival attractions in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Phoenix, Az. Pittsburgh, PA., and Toronto, Ont. Canada.
- Served as senior management consultant for more than twenty projectsin the USA, Canada, and England, disciplines in theaters renovations, film festivals, stage concerts, events, and conferences.
- Theater Manager for the Zev Buffman Theatrical Organization (a PACE package) presenting Broadway musicals and plays at the Jackie Gleason Theater, Miami, Florida.
Charlotte County Auditorium. Operated by the Charlotte County Government, Punta Gorda, FL.1989 to 1991, Managing Director. 2000 seat theater.
Accomplishments:
- Developed community support for facility and programs by working closely with City Hall, the County Commission, Friends of the Auditorium, the Arts Council and the community.
- Managed all facets of facility operation of a theater with 2,000 seats, increased to 280 days against the old record of 165 days, bring a 16.9% additional income to the theater. Including all phases of planning, booking and presenting a series featuring a variety of world class artists.
- Renovation of the performing and exhibition space for more diverse clients and patrons through a County and State grant of $585,000, yielding a 34% increase in new audiences and ticket revenues.
- Reversed operating and programming deficits by 97% in 18 months.
- Successfully expanded programming direction to meet new audiences.
- Successfully received 90% of the requested funding from the City, County, and State governments.
Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, Miami, Florida
1983 to 1987, Managing Director of a 1700 seat historical theater, and a ten-story office building.
Accomplishments:
- Completed a comprehensive architectural and historical renovation evaluation addressing major funding schedules from the State of Florida. Obtained $2 million in restoration funds over a four year period.
- Increased rental revenues of offices, storefronts, and theater space by 28%.
- Negotiated and implemented long term contracts with new resident companies.
- Operated the facility on a 93% earned income 7% coming from the City of Miami, and implemented marketing programs that increased events attendance eightfold.
- Oversaw planning and accomplishment of the restoration and renovation of the theater.
- Presented a Diverse event program of pops, music, dance, and theater artists, leading to a 66% attendance increase.
- Supported the successful growth and development of resident companies including the Miami City Ballet, New World Symphony with Michael Tilson-Thomas; the Miami Film Festival, and the Florida Philharmonic Symphony of South Florida, with James Judd, Musical Director.

Calvin has received grant support from the private and public sector. He received Florida Arts Council, Division of Cultural Affairs funding that totaled more than $3 million for repairs and improvements to the Gusman Center, Miami; Fl. Charlotte County Auditorium, Punta Gorda, Fl.; $585,000 in improvements. Currently, the Bakehouse Art Complex Inc., Miami, $210,000 in renovations for a three and one-half acre facility for painters, sculptors, photographers, print, ceramists, theater and metal workers.

Calvin has been active in many local, regional and international arts' organizations. A consultant to the New York State and New Jersey State Arts Councils: New York Department of Cultural Affairs. Founding Board Member and Co-Chair of Community Events Committee Five Boroughs for the New York Cultural Showcase Foundation, Calvin was an art's consultant to the David Sarnoff (the founder of NBC) Arts Center at the Educational Alliance on the Lower East Side, New York City. A Board Member of the Montgomery County Arts Council, Rockville, MD. A founding committee member of "Very Special Arts" at Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts;
Founder of the New England Presenters Consortium-1979; founding member of Florida Professional Presenters Consortium, 1983, and a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Film Society of Miami-1984, which presents the Miami Film Festival. He was on the original fact-finding committee for The Performing Arts Foundation, Miami, Fl., to develop a downtown Performing Arts Center. He was a committee member on the Punta Gorda Revitalization for the City of Punta Gorda, FL, 1991.
In 1995, the mayor's office of the city of Toronto, Ontario, invited him to represent the City of Toronto as a board member to the Toronto Arts Council, an arms-length cultural agency. He was also instrumental in being a founding member of the Toronto Arts Council Foundation. For three terms, he was a presenter panelist on the Florida Arts Council, Division of Cultural Affairs, and served as a multi-cultural panelist for Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council, and on the Advisory Committee of the Design Preservation League, Miami Beach, FL.
DESIGNS/ AWARDS
Calvin is currently an advisor on design space management at the Bakehouse Art Complex Inc., in Miami, and in the past has worked on the designs and renovations for the Charlotte County Auditorium, Punta Gorda, Fl., The Milford Arts Center, Milford, Conn., the Strathmore Arts Center, Bethesda, MD. and the Landsburgh Arts Center in downtown Washington, D.C. He has been a guest visiting lecturer at the University of Miami, Department of Theater. Calvin has received a number of awards for his community and professional services: He received an Award of Excellence from the American College Theater Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 1986, for his outstanding support ot college theaters.
