The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) seeks candidates for an OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER position. ICTJ is a newly established human rights organization based in New York City aiming to strengthen the field of transitional justice – assisting societies in transition to respond to a legacy of massive abuse – through technical assistance, networking, documentation and strategic research.
All positions with ICTJ require the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines; a high level of professionalism and attention to detail; the ability to work as part of a team, but also independently; comfort working in a multicultural, international environment; excellent written and spoken English (other languages strongly desirable), and strong computer skills.
OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Reports to: He / she will work under the supervision of the Vice President.
Purpose:
The Outreach and Communications Officer will assist the development of the field of transitional justice by facilitating communication between organizations and individuals in the field, tracking ongoing projects, and producing regular summaries of new policy developments or research in the field.
Major Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the ICTJ’s relationships with individuals and organizations active in the field of transitional justice worldwide
- Communicate the work of the ICTJ to its target audiences.
- Establish and maintain a database of key actors or projects in the field.
Core Requirements:
Minimum Education
- Advanced university degree in law, journalism, international affairs, public policy, or related field of social science.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience, at least 2 years of which have been in communications, outreach, or related position.
- Excellent computer and database skills.
- Strong desktop publishing or document production skills.
- Experience in the human rights field.
- Strong commitment to human rights.
- Strong analytic and conceptual skills.
- Experience in editing or reviewing other's research.
