The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) seeks candidates for two SENIOR ASSOCIATE positions. ICTJ is a newly established human rights organization based in New York City aiming to strengthen the field of transitional justice – assisting societies in transition to respond to a legacy of massive abuse – through technical assistance, networking, documentation and strategic research.
All positions with ICTJ require the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines; a high level of professionalism and attention to detail; the ability to work as part of a team, but also independently; comfort working in a multicultural, international environment; excellent written and spoken English (other languages strongly desirable), and strong computer skills.
SENIOR ASSOCIATES (2)
Reports to: They will work under the direct supervision of the Program Directors.
Purpose: The Senior Associate will provide technical assistance, comparative information and policy advice to organizations in civil society and governments seeking to respond to a legacy of massive abuse
Major Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and drafting legislation
- Speaking in public forums on transitional justice and offering policy analysis on lessons learned from previous transitions.
- Participate in many of the ICTJ’s missions abroad
- Provide assistance from ICTJ headquarters in New York.
Core Requirements:
Minimum Education
- Advanced university degree in law, international affairs, public policy, economics or other relevant field of social science.
Minimum Experience
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong public speaking, communication and interpersonal skills.
