Toxics Action Center seeks a Community Fundraising Director to work in its Boston office. The staff person will develop and oversee an initiative to increase Toxics Action Center’s revenue from individual donors. Since 1987, Toxics Action Center has assisted more than 275 neighborhood groups fight toxic pollution in their communities. Through our unique individualized neighborhood trainings, our network of hundreds of neighborhood activists and environmental experts, and our organizing conferences that annually attract more than 600 attendees, Toxics Action Center is dedicated to protecting our families and the environment from toxic chemicals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Fundraising Director will develop and implement plan to increase Toxics Action Center’s fundraising base through increased individual giving. By expanding the breadth of its membership and by cultivating major donors, the Center will be able to increase the resources it can devote to help neighborhood organizing campaigns. Specifically the staff person will:
- Raise money from existing major donors through individual meetings
- Work with organizing staff to identify new major donors and cultivate current donors
- Run trainings for neighborhood groups to assist their local fundraising efforts
- Coordinate fundraising house parties for the Center in local communities
- Develop direct mail and telephone outreach campaigns
- Oversee writing of membership newsletter
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-3 years of fundraising and/or organizing experience. Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment. Articulate and able to tell a story. Detailed oriented, good with numbers, and able to develop and maintain systems. Interest in training others and working with a staff of community organizers on important environmental and public health issues. Basic computer skills.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary ranges from mid $20K to mid $30K. An outstanding benefit package includes health care, college and graduate school loan repayment programs for qualified staff, vacation, parental leave, travel and training opportunities.
