Retired Packard chief named senior fellow at Council on Foundations
The Council on Foundations has named Colburn S. Wilbur, retired president of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, as its senior fellow for one year.
Senior fellows bring well-known grantmakers to the council to share their expertise. Members of the council, an association of foundations and corporate giving programs, last year donated nearly $8 billion to social welfare, health, education, environmental and arts programs.
"Our joint thinking is to keep the fellowship flexible and responsive," says Dorothy S. Ridings, the council's president and chief executive officer. "Cole will assist the council in several projects to help our members, such as developing staff training, exploring productive use of technology, finding ways to better assist new foundations in their start-up phase and improving grantor-grantee relationships."
Wilbur joined the Packard Foundation in 1976 and is set to become a member of its board of trustees.
