TITLE: Director of Development
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Raises annual operating revenue for JA programs by directly managing corporate, foundation and individual donors through new and existing methods such as solicitation of major gifts, direct mail, special events, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving and board development.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to: Executive Director
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ANNUAL CORPORATE DRIVE: Organizes and implements a successful corporate drive utilizing Board of Directors to ensure meeting approved goal. Includes management of existing corporate accounts. Clarifies, ranks and assigns prospects to appropriate volunteers for solicitation. Follows up on all assigned prospects. Assures data base is operational. Recognizes leadership and donors.
- MAJOR GIFTS: Secures major gifts from current and new individual, corporate and foundation donors, writes all grant proposals and requests.
- SPECIAL EVENTS: Secures corporate and individual participation in special events such as annual Bowl-a-Thon, Golf and Tribute Dinner in approved time line to meet the financial goal.
- SPECIAL PROJECTS: Researches and identifies foundations and individuals whose interest and priorities match projects needing funding. Develops and updates necessary tools for successful funding, i.e., brochures, graphs, etc.
- MANAGES DATA BASE: Assures that information of all donors and prospects is operational.
- BUDGET: Assists in developing a budget for all development activities.
- BOARD COMMITTEES: Works closely with all development related Board Committees in carrying out their specific functions so the goals of the Board can be achieved. Directs materials preparation for Board and Committee meetings.
POSITION SPECIFICATION:
(Education, Experience, Certification and Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)
Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent. Minimum 5 years prior experience in development including working with corporations. Highly-organized, detail-oriented. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit. Oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Foundation proposal experience. Raiser's Edge experience useful.
SALARY RANGE: $50-60K based on experience.
