Development Manager
Reef Check Foundation

Reef Check Foundation, a Los Angeles-based volunteer program dedicated to coral reef education, monitoring and management on a global scale, is seeking a Development specialist with two to five years experience in fundraising. The Development Manager will plan, coordinate and manage resource development activities including individual donor, foundation and corporate giving. The Development Manager will also assist the Executive Director to prepare proposals for submission to government agencies. We would consider either full-time or part-time employment options.
Primary responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of program priorities and funding goals. Develop and implement strategies to reach those goals.
- Work with the Board of Directors to assist it fulfill its fund-raising leadership; assist members with development of contacts; work with Resource Development Committee in the planning and implementation of the Reef Check's fund-raising plan. Work with the Director and Program Manager to develop the fundraising plan, and identify, research, cultivate and solicit funding sources.
- Meet with and solicit corporate donors.
- Oversee events planning; solicit benefit committee members, honorees, etc.
Qualifications:
- Applicants should have two to five years experience as a fundraiser. Prior experience with non-profits preferred, and some knowledge and love of the marine environment, scuba diving, and coral reefs would be desirable.
- Demonstrated experience raising at least $300,000 a year from major donors, strong planning and organizational skills, articulate and persuasive communicator and presenter, computer literate :word processing, spreadsheets and fund management software.
- Appreciation of volunteerism; and full understanding of the fund-raising process is required. Knowledge of the Los Angeles, California scene is required.
Compensation would be a base salary of $30,000 plus appropriate performance-based incentive program; travel and participation in Coral Reef projects around the world.
