Fund Development Associate

THE POSITION: The Fund Development Associate plays a pivotal role in cultivating individuals and organizations to become major donors to TNDC, especially through our high-profile events. The Fund Development Associate is the lead person responsible for coordinating two annual fundraising events, the Birthday Party in the spring and the TNDC Celebrity Pool Toss in the fall. The Associate will also help coordinate a variable number of smaller events such as ground-breakings, grand openings, and donor recognition events throughout the year, and provide tours to groups interested in learning more about TNDC and the Tenderloin neighborhood. The position works closely with the executive director, fund development director and other department staff, TNDC’s board of directors, volunteer leaders, consultants, and vendors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate Birthday Party event, including:
- committee recruitment
- sponsorship solicitation
- production of the invitation, program book, and other marketing materials
- organizing volunteers, including committee members and staff helpers
- managing vendors and in-kind donations
- Coordinate Pool Toss event, including:
- work closely with event planning firm on all aspects of event
- committee recruitment
- sponsorship solicitation
- production invitation and program book, and other marketing materials
- Organize major donor recognition events, such as "donor day" tours, open houses, or benefit lunches at local restaurants
- Work with housing development staff to create small events, such as groundbreakings or grand openings for buildings
- Assist with communications and public relations efforts, including
- contributing material to website and quarterly newsletter
- conducting tours of TNDC and the Tenderloin for interested outside groups
- Assist in the planning, development, and stewardship of major gifts efforts
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years’ experience in event planning
- Four year college degree (or two years of college plus four years of event planning)
- Excellent writing ability
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel and at least one database program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a varierty of aspects of fundraising, especially major gifts
- Experience with advanced databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge
SALARY: Competitive salary in high 30’s to low 40’s, depending on experience, plus benefits
