The Council on Foundations' 51st annual conference on nonprofit issues and trends will run from May 1-3 in Los Angeles this year, but Internet surfers can see a preview of what's to come at the SimulConference 2000 Web site.
The SimulConference site has offered daily highlights of conference workshops, trips to foundation-supported projects and complete speeches via an Internet link since March 14. New material will be added continually until May 4 and all of the site's content will be accessible until March 2001.
Visitors to the Web site can listen to interviews, view and digital photographs, and hear philanthropic leaders discuss a variety of issues, including ending welfare, urban education, e-philanthropy and youth violence. All "Webcast" material will also be available in text form.
The SimulConference, which saw 178,000 people access the site when it was inaugurated last year, allows grant seekers, media representatives and others who cannot attend the conference but are interested in learning more about philanthropy to access the event via the Web.
During the conference, between 18 and 20 sessions will be summarized and posted on the Web site, and will include 7-10 minutes of streaming video.
